Regenerate Roots

  • Dip bottom of cutting in root hormone powder or liquid to stimulate root growth

  • (Optional): Grow roots in a glass bottle with water until you have multiple 1-inch long roots (Glass Bottle Method)

Plant

  • Plant cutting right after using root hormone or glass bottle method. Place them in 1-gallon pots or in your yard but leave space between them to limit competition for space and resources.

  • Water your grapes by keeping their soil moist but not overly wet. Over watering your grapes will cause your roots to stop growing which will stunt your grape's growth.

Maturing

  • When growing a new grapevine, you want to prune the vine every year to ensure that your vines will withstand the weight of your grapes. After 4 years of growth, in autumn  your Cabernet Sauvignon grapevines will be ready for harvest.

  • Each mature Cabernet Sauvignon grapevine produce around 6-7 pounds of fruit.

  • You can either eat the fruits of your labor or you can make wine. With 6-7 pounds of grapes, you can make 2-3 bottles of wine per grapevine!
